About

Welcome to my little corner of the internet and thanks so much for stopping by. In 2009, I discovered photography. For five years, I worked and planned to make my dream of becoming a traveling photographer come true. In 2014, I hit the road full time. It’s been a wonderful and interesting journey so far. I hope you will visit often since I update my galleries almost daily.  All proceeds from purchases of my photographs directly fund the continuation of this unconventional way of life, so if you see something you like, I hope you will consider hanging it in your home or office. Thanks for your support!

The recording of a scene is only part of it. The real challenge is to capture the sense of being in that moment, in that particular spot. The most compelling photographs I’ve seen take me away to that place, that time, and evoke feelings of being there. If you can smell the air, hear the birds, feel the wind, or just imagine the peace, then I have succeeded. This is what I hope to accomplish each time I make an image.

Photography is what I was meant to do. In all my life, nothing has ever felt so right as when I’m behind the camera. Whether it’s a bird, a butterfly, the juxtaposition of a man-made structure against the natural landscape, or a breathtaking vista that could only have been created by mother nature, the moment I release the shutter is a moment that will never happen again. Finding my passion late in life has been both exhilarating and challenging. On the one hand, I’m finally doing something meaningful with my life. On the other hand, there seems so little time left to master it. Certainly, I will be a work in progress for the rest of my days.

Loree, loving your photos and your blog. You are truly an inspiration. Would love to see you take on the great plains, alberta down to texas. and more old house pics! i am a lowly home care aide, new zealander (working in australia), but when i hit the jackpot, i’m going to send you some dough.
have you thought of a coffeetable book incorporating blog and fabulous photos?
Hope you are well. all the best.

Thank you so much for stopping by and for leaving such kind comments. Suggestions for places to travel are always welcome. As an ardent supporter of public lands, I’ve chosen to spend my summer this year volunteering at two different wildlife refuges in the Pacific Northwest. I will keep the central plains in mind for future adventures. As for the book, you never know what I may do with all this material. 😉
